Many, possibly most of us have smart phones these days. They can vary in shapes and sizes, but they all have one thing in common – the screen resolution is not as big as your desktop monitor or TV.
When searching the internet through your smartphone it can get frustrating, difficult and even confusing since there is just too much information on the screen and the site isn’t mobile friendly.
Google have now decided to amend this, which is a move we welcome. What’s been proposed is instead of the address URL being displayed, a friendlier description will be provided making it better for the user.
According to google they have updated “the algorithms that display URLs in the search results to better reflect the names of websites, using the real-world name of the site instead of the domain name, and the URL structure of the sites in a breadcrumbs-like format.”
The article offered a number of hints for the future. Whilst at the moment the change is only happening in the USA it could be occurring worldwide in the future, and the change could also apply to desktop viewing too.
For business and pleasure alike, a small change like this could make a massive difference to saving time and effort. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds in the UK.
